This is Zoe's favorite chill spot these days... On top of the desk, on top of the TV, looking out of the window. WHAT am I going to do with this kid?? lol

Figuring Me Out

Figuring Me Out

Sometimes, as women we get lost in our relationships... lost in all the roles we assume on a daily basis. I know I've posted a couple of times recently about who I am and perhaps you all are getting tired of reading about my process of figuring me out, but ...

Potty Training? Um, No.

Potty Training? Um, No.

Zoe has developed a nasty little habit. She will "boo boo" and then decide immediately that she wants nothing to do with her diaper. So she takes it off. Imagine a 20 month old professional climber making her way up the side of my executive desk with a huge grin ...

There Snow Place Like Home

There Snow Place Like Home

Yesterday morning, it started snowing... well flurry-ing... In Louisiana, that's a major deal. We can just about run around in shorts all winter. It gets cold for about 10 minutes and then it's summer all of a sudden. There's no fall and no spring. LOL Here is a photo of ...

Fibromyalgia, Tumors, and Me

Fibromyalgia, Tumors, and Me

I've had a surprising amount of dialog lately about Fibromyalgia. I have to say it's refreshing to have so many people know what it is... and relate to me. Being diagnosed 18 years ago, I grew up accepting that I had a disorder that no one understood - that many ...

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Yesterday we celebrated the birthday of our oldest daughter, Briyana. She was born on February 6, 2000 but we planned her party closer to Valentine’s Day because it carried that theme. This morning, my husband got home from work and said, “I almost brought you something for Valentine’s Day but I figured y’all had enough junk yesterday.” We aren’t big on gifts and such, so …

Briyana’s 10th Birthday Party {Photos}

Briyana has been begging me for permission to straighten her hair for at least a year. She has been “over” her super-curly, typical biracial hair for far too long! Since she turned 10 last week, I decided to finally give in and buy her a flat iron to straighten her hair. I took her to WalMart and let her pick one out. She got a …

Happy Birthday, Briyana!

At 10:31am yesterday, my oldest daughter became my first baby to reach a double-digit age. She turned ten years old. I cannot believe it’s been over a decade since we found out she was a girl… and then all of a sudden, she was born. She changed my life in ways I never expected. She was perfect. She was precious. She was my daughter… Time …

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! My 2010 Resolutions

Last year, I made a ton of great resolutions… most of which, I forgot all about {or lost interest in} before the calendar even hit February. This year, I’m going to be more realistic – AND I’m going to be practical. I’ve spent wasted way too much time over the last 12 months of my life. I’ve devoted countless hours to absolutely nothing… hours that …

Is Tradition Getting Trumped By Convenience?

When I was growing up, we had traditions…when it came to holidays and birthdays, you learned to expect a great deal – and my mom always delivered. Despite us not always having a lot… my mom would extend herself to the MAX to give us the full experience of celebrating. When it came to holidays, you always knew what to expect.
On New Years Eve, we …

My First {and Last} After-Thanksgiving Sale

I admit it. I was dumb-dumb-dumb enough to actually BE at WalMart at 5am on Black Friday. Let me first say that this is the first time I’ve ever actually participated in the whole race-to-get-there-first part of Black Friday. Normally, I go around 10:15am and pick through whatever happens to be left of the after-Thanksgiving sales. This year, however, there were two electronic items that …

Thanksgiving and Family

This Thanksgiving seems different than the years past. For some reason it feels more genuine… closer to the heart. We’ve been through so many trials this year – seen so many struggles… experienced things we thought we’d never experience, which seems almost impossible when I reflect on all the insane experiences we’ve had since we met as teens!! Looking back over the last few months, …
