My name is Kathleen JoHanna Robertson (formerly Toler, also known as Cassie and Kat). I was born and raised in south Mississippi. I now reside in north central Louisiana with my family. My passions are ministry, family, writing (spiritual/inspirational articles, Christian-themed books/novels, poetry, etc), and singing (mostly Gospel, some R&B). I have been journaling nearly my entire life and have thoroughly enjoyed chronicling my life here. Since I have been keeping a journal since I was a child, you will find entries here that date all the way back to 1997 when I – as a 14 year old high school freshman – recalled meeting the boy that eventually became my husband… as well as reading my thoughts at 16 when I found out I was expecting my first child. I am now 27 years old… and with five kids (four girls and one boy), a zillion small business ventures, a ministry, twenty thousand short-and-long term goals, a dog, and virtually NO alone time, we have the craziest existence of anyone I’ve ever known. Life definitely tends to run away from us all by itself. We spend most of our time just trying to catch up but we’re loving every minute of it!

This blog was created to share my thoughts, feelings, and experiences as well as document our family’s memories from my pregnancies right into things about our children’s personalities, milestones, and of course the cute (and sometimes questionable) things that all kids do and say … Blogging has always been a way for my family and friends abroad to feel closer and more involved; it’s a means for reflection, inspiration, and preservation of my most precious (and even my most stressful) memories. It’s all right here… I’m sharing my life with the world: all of my ups and downs, trials and triumphs, accomplishments and failures, goals and aspirations… My funny mommy moments, my 3am author-in-a-sleep-deprived-state mornings, my warmest wife-times, my workplace laughter and horror stories, and my general everyday thoughts.

A little about what I do:

I am a stay-at-home-mom. Honesty I think every SAHM should be considered a WORK-at-home-mom because this is the most challenging “job” I’ve ever had. I founded StepInFaith Ministry as a devotion website at the end of 2005. I do graphic and web design and have had eDesign-Pro Company since 2005 (although it started out as Robertson eConsulting). I also do professional consulting for things like book editing, professional correspondence, resume creation/updating, and other general proofing and support services. I have an accounting degree and held the position of Office Manager/Accountant for a local company until I resigned to work at home so that I could pursue my own personal goals and spend more time with my family. I love to write and currently have five writing projects in the works – a devotional, a fictional novel about how God can turn a mess into a miracle, a theology book, a book on spiritual empowerment, and of course one about parenting. I hope that my book Act Like a Christian will eventually become a Theology textbook or accompaniment.

I am very passionate about pretty much everything. If I believe it, I FIRMLY believe it and if I’m against it, I am probably radically opposed! I am a Christian, which influences every area of my life. BUT I’m not one of those holier-than-thou-judgmental-hypocritical-turn-my-nose-up-because-I-think-I-am-better-than-”those”-people kind of Christians. I believe in Christ’s fundamental teachings of LOVE. Justification, condemnation, and judgment are not my place and well, frankly I have enough on my plate without assuming responsibility that I don’t have to! My hope is to share God with you by living Christ’s examplewithout the burden of trying to convince myself that I’m hot stuff because of it. :) I am real, open, down to earth, and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I’m super cool, so if you can’t get along with me, there’s just something wrong with you. LOL I just love enjoying things… I love life, and I love living it!

NOW on to the *rest* of the family

I am the mother of five beautiful children and the wife of one amazing man! They are my whole life… My husband, Barry, is 28 years old and is one of the calmest, most patient men I’ve ever known {unless, of course he’s waiting on me to get ready when we’re trying to go somewhere – then he’s probably the most IMpatient man I’ve ever known LOL}, and a wonderful father {no exceptions there}. We’ve been together {off and on for the first few years} since 1997 {just made 12 years in November} and have been married {mostly happily} for 8 years, since 2001! We’ve been through SO much together – through the good and the bad, it’s all made us stronger and closer and more in love than we ever imagined… My husband is a former {and hopefully soon to be *current*} professional athlete, having been on contract with the NFLE {Hamburg Sea Devils}, NFL {New York Giants}, and CFL {Montreal Alouettes}. He is a college grad holding degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology.

Briyana is our oldest daughter… she turned 10 years old on February 6, 2010. She is so sassy and girly… she is definitely going to be an EMOTIONAL teenager! Briyana loves to joke around and she’s a very “cognitive” person meaning she is constantly thinking about everything. Sometimes, she thinks so hard that the things she say don’t make any sense by the time she’s “thought” them through haha She’s very smart and enjoys school (she is in 4th grade and is an honor student). Bri is mostly very calm and laid back. She is a very mature child {for the most part… I mean, until you touch her cell phone LOL}. She helps take care of her baby sisters {to con me into giving her more allowance – smart kid; she’s a hustler!} and is extremely responsible for her age. She also loves cheerleading, reading, teaching, and doing her hair. She’s in love with cooking and enjoys making simple meals for the family! She’s also quite the little negotiator. I imagine she will eventually make a wonderful businesswoman!

Barry (Tre) turned 8 years old on September 26, 2009 and is our only boy. Tre has always been ALL BOY! He love sports (he gets that from his daddy!) and is often WAYYYY too rough. His favorite thing to do is play games on his playstation or go work out with his dad. Tre absolutely LOVES to talk … he loves to tell stories about EVERYTHING and also loves to sing. Despite that part of his personality, he also has a very silent side to him and he truly enjoys reading his Bible and reflecting on the stories he reads there! Tre goes EVERYWHERE with his daddy and wants to be just like him. He played his first season of football this year and is in 2nd grade! All of a sudden, this year he decided he loves to learn, draw, and READ. Imagine that. LOL :) I’m so proud…

Talia turned 7 years old on December 21. She is the typical middle child. She actually told me when she was three years old, “Mama you think cause you are big that you are grown? You ain’t grown, Mama!” She was a lot like her little sister, Avalyn, is now! Where these two children get their thoughts from I have no idea, but it’s so cute! Talia is the one that gets her kicks at the expense of others, which often gets her into trouble… but she means no harm and under her tough, tomboy exterior, she’s actually very sensitive and tries to gain the approval and affection of everyone around her. She’s often labeled everybody’s favorite of my kids just because of her very extrovertive personality and caring heart. She is in 1st grade this year and has been on Principal’s List {all-A honor roll} every 6 weeks so far. She learned how to read before she started school, so she had a jump on some of the other students already which has made things a little easier for her!!

Avalyn is our 4 year old (her birthday is on 9/11) and she has yet to decide whether she wants to be a big girl or a baby… she often alternates between the two! She was potty trained shortly after her third birthday and seldom ever has an accident. She is hands-down the most spoiled of all the children. She is very bossy and outspoken, but has acted bashful around strangers since she was about a year old! Once she warms up to people, LOOK OUT! lol She is VERY witty and is full of personality. You never know what she’s gonna say next, which I’ve yet to decide whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing!! She is such an intelligent child; she is very receptive and very insightful. It’s surprising how much she understands but then again, she has two older sisters acting as full time mentors! She’s precious, but can also be a HUGE handful when she wants to be.

Zoe will be 2 years old on June 27, 2010 and she is the sweetest/happiest baby you will ever meet! Just having turned 18 months, she started taking off her OWN diaper and pulling my arm leading me into the bathroom. She sits on the potty, does absolutely nothing and then scoots off and turns on the bath water. lol She is very smart and has always been extremely alert. She rarely ever cries unless something is wrong and she literally smiles at EVERYONE who looks at her, although now she’s developed these HILARIOUS facial expressions which basically say, “I think you’re nuts.” When you tickle her, she laughs and it sounds like a little voice-programmed baby doll! It is absolutely adorable! She gets bored easily so she prefers to always have someone talking to her or to be around something stimulating. She has been walking since she was about 9-10 months old and is QUITE the little climber. I always joke that she has chimp somewhere in her bloodline – the child climbs on literally EVERYTHING. She also loves to be outside and runs to the door every time it opens. She gets pretty irritated when she gets left indoors LOL :) She’s still nursing {breastfeeding} but I am hoping to put an end to that fairly quickly LOL I’d like to have my body back to myself… we’ll see if she lets that happen!
